Over the last 3 years, I’ve had the absolute pleasure, privilege, and joy of working with 33+ Brands widespread across 17+ vivid sectors and industries.
And that’s not even the real prize.
Each new industry I associate with, I spend copious amounts of time researching about that business. The competition, the breakthroughs, the challenges, the loopholes, the business, the pain areas, the opportunities, the ideal versus realistic best practices- every damn thing.
I spend a lot of time doing my due diligence with founders, CXOs, and frontliners – not only of the client but also their competitors whenever possible, and I make ardous notes. The insights garnered from this rather demanding approach are unparalleled.
Leveraging this input during curation and debriefing of learning interventions is what makes all the difference of going from mile wide to inch deep.
I remember my very first stint with the BFSI sector so distinctly.
Very early on in my L&D career, I got introduced to an enterprising Founder/MD of an organisation in the BFSI segment (BPO). Delhi-based company, PAN India presence.
Completely novice to the sector, I dedicated 7 months, yes, 7 MONTHS to the company (without pay), just to master the business and the industry altogether.
Multiple audits at their office; understanding client interactions; learning the theory, functional and operational side of the business; industry best practices, RBI guidelines and code of conduct; all the way to studying about the past and changing future of the industry- I crunched it all down.
And at that time, I didn’t even know if I would bag the project, there was no confirmation, only trial and error- I put in the effort anyway, just for the learnings.
It’s only after 7 months that the MD was finally convinced to hand me my first project with them- a 7 day OTJ.
And ever since, there’s been no looking back. It’s been a little over 2 years of my association with them, and over the years and multiple interventions, Réflexions is their sole partner of choice for all things L&D.
(And of course, big ups to the MD for being patient, enthusiastic and supportive enough to spend hours tutoring me)
A little goes a long way, just like salt in a recipe. Its presence, often missed. Its absence, deeply felt.
