Growing as a Team with Ludofication

Session Synopsis-

So the much awaited breakdown of the game plan of how I used Ludofication to foster team building is here. Let’s roll with it? (Haha)

Stage 1 – Client Contracting
Through multiple rounds of calls, a couple of symptoms were identified.
Think icebreaking; significance of self and job role in the larger scheme of things in the organisation; making tough-calls and negotiations with various stakeholders; feeling connected to the Company’s larger objective and vision; accountability and ownership of job and responsibilities; getting to know each other and the new Chief, and start trusting the otherwise remote team that’s widespread across the country….

Stage 2 – The Game-Plan
Since the ask was so vivid and diverse, along with a strong need of connection with one another, I zeroed in on going with Ludofication.

Reflection Crest Cards- these cards were customised as per the problem statements, and called for stimulating discussions, vulnerabilities, fun banters, and provided deep insights into one another’s personalities. These cards helped teams open up, and build trust.

Community Support Cards- these cards are the action cards (also customised). They determine movement on the board, unveil jackpots, and test alliances.

Stage 3- The Bonus Jolts

To create a healthy mix of kinaesthetic and cognitive energies in the room, and to keep the participants buzzing, there were the Star blocks. Each time a player landed on the Star, all the participants across all the teams were subjected to a team challenge.

Initially I observed how the participants tried to dodge the star blocks. So then I added another jolt- each time the team plays the challenge, they advance 10 blocks on the Ludo Mat. And then the situation was reversed- they were calculating ways to land on the stars and perform more tasks

This was of course, followed by a debrief which yielded lots of reflections, application, and takeaways for the participants.

Happy to report that the feedback was bespoke. (Wish I could have collated it better.)

I may be biased, but I love how this tool perfectly encapsulates all 3 VAK styles of learners and keeps them glued, through and through.

Keep your eyes peeled for more details on the preps and closure.
