Reflexions

“Wow so cool you’re your own boss”

Founder. Start-up. Business. Venture.
These words raise brows and drop jaws in fancy.

But don’t let the spotlight and cameras blindside you to the backstage preps. While running a business may “sound cool” here’s what I’ve gathered from my stint so far- 4 years into Réflexions and 5-6 months into Pour Decisions.

Sure, employment and entrepreneurship both have their fair share of pros and cons.
Here’s my perspective:

Imagine there’s a bicycle on a thin rope. And then there’s you on it. – that’s entrepreneurship.

No reverse gears. No do-overs. No side and rear view mirrors. No seatbelts and airbags. If you pause or stop you’ll topple. The only way through it, is through it.
And most importantly, the constant need to push and peddle- it’s so continuous and demanding.

“Founder”- as boujee as the title may sound, more often than not, you are the Founder and the Forklift and every other role in between.
You will need to do it all.

You’ll smile through meltdowns. You’ll lose your sleep, appetite, social circle, mind, resources and more. You’ll doubt yourself, your idea, and question if all this is even worth it.

But then something in you will make you want to get up the next day and do it all over again, anyway. Because there’s nothing else that you’d rather be doing.
