This episode from earlier today had me holding my head and laughing in disbelief
Picture this:
I was sounding off my ideas and plans for our upcoming project for their DMTs (Diploma Management Trainees).
While I was in gung-ho spirits and excited by the pitch, I could sense resistance, and that the stakeholders were not entirely convinced…
“We’re afraid they might not be able to relate to this at their level”
“They might have trouble understanding this”
“This will need to be watered down and explained to them lucidly”
“We might need to explain in simple Hindi”
Now here I was absolutely confused… why were they thinking these supposedly Management Trainees wouldn’t understand these basics? Am I missing something?
So I asked “which institutions do these Management Trainees come from?”
“Which management trainees? Who?”
Again, perplexed and now tad nervous… I innocently asked “these DMTs? Diploma Management Trainees right?”
“Oh no no no no no! These are our DMTs! DAILY MANAGEMENT TEAMS! They are the shop floor employees, who execute day-to-day tasks on the line, on factory floor, handle equipment and upkeep, etc. Blue collared guys!”
And that is when we had our bulb-on moment! Oh God! No wonder!! Now it all makes sense!
A shared burst of laughter and couple sighs later, I obviously assured them to come back with another plan, now as per the Daily Management Teams!
Sigh… jargon… you funny l’il thing!
